In early 2014, the lady Khama Charitable Trust (LKCT) received a letter of support request from Cynthia‘s Child Care and Counselling Centre Trust, seeking financial assistance to help with the construction of two classrooms, a kitchen and a storeroom to add to the existing infrastructure at the child day care centre.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Dale ter Haar, LKCT Chairman said, the project proposal was in line with the Trust’s mandate, which is the focus on vulnerable women and children. There was also a strong community need for it as the centre at that time provided basic pre-school education for up to 48 children from the seven settlements in the Good Hope Sub district.

Cynthia’s Day Care Centre managed to successfully navigate the comprehensive application process that the LKCT has in place and this demonstrates that the right projects, lead by the right people will benefit from the full support of the Trust and Trustees.

On behalf of Cynthia’s Day Care Centre, Mercy Leshomo said that they feel honoured and privileged for the opportunity of being one of LKCT recipients who built the state-of-the-art building. The latter also highlighted that early childhood education is a new chapter in their area hence the need to sensitise care givers on its importance.
