The Tlamelong Rehabilitation Centre was built by the Botswana Red Cross society in 1974 with the focus on improving the lives of people living with disabilities.

Tlamelong Rehabilitation Centre assists in its noble aims of amongst other things promote awareness, self-reliance and a sense of responsibility in the community, including people living with disabilities. It is also the Centre’s aim to build human resource potential in the community by including people living with disabilities, their families and community members.

Tlamelong Rehabilitation centre trains approximately 30 young adults aged between 18 and 30 from all angles of Botswana who live with physical disabilities. The Centre offers a two year programme that includes Vocational Instruction in Textile, Cookery and Horticulture. Simultaneously, literacy classes and short educational classes are provided to help open new opportunities. All trainees receive physical rehabilitation and medical treatment where necessary.

Lady Khama Charitable Trust continues to support Tlamelong Rehabilitation Centre as it has over the years shown excellence in building the community. One such project was the development of the horticulture greenhouses, which are now returning on their investment through the sale of produce.
