SPAR Women’s Challenge Botswana

And it’s BACK! Once again, the Lady Khama Charitable Trust and SPAR BOTSWANA bring you Botswana’s one and only SPAR WOMEN’S CHALLENGE BOTSWANA

2019 brought the first ever Botswana SPAR Women’s Challenge. The SPAR Women’s Challenge originated in Pretoria, South Africa 27 years ago and now the Lady K. RUN21 Trail Run has been adopted and been dubbed the Botswana Spar Women’s Challenge. This run has been the perfect wellness opportunity for corporates and the running community in Botswana, in aid of those in need in Botswana. Due to the nature of it being a part Road part Trail Run, it is unique in the race calendar.

The race circuit starts and finishes at the Waterstone Events & Conferencing in Gaborone, Botswana.

10km: P200

Registrations include a goodie bag, timing chip and Spar Women’s Challenge t-shirt.

Who Can Participate & Prizes Available?

The 10km Challenge is open to all female runners/walkers 10 years and older, and the 5km Challenge is open to all female runners/walkers 8 years and older.

Any child under the age of 7yrs can make a donation of P 100.00 to participate. They will receive a goodie bag and finisher medal upon completion of the race but will not be eligible for winner prizes.

We encourage male entrants; however, they are not eligible to win in any category in any of the races. They will receive a goodie bag and finisher medal upon completion of the race.

Due to the nature of this race being a part trail and part road race, the 10Km does not permit the use of strollers and wheel chairs, however all attempts are being made to have the 5km be open for all.

Participants with small children will be allowed to participate in the 5KM ONLY, and do so at their own risk.

Before the Event

Race number collection for those who did not collect at Spar Stores is on Thursday 07th and Friday 08th July 2022 at the Waterstone Events & Conferencing lounge area, 10:00 to 18:00 daily.

NO number collection or late entries on the day of the race.

On Race Day

The race is organised by The Lady Khama Charitable Trust and is supported by the Gaborone Runners Club, Botswana Athletics Association and Botswana National Sports Commission.

Runners are encouraged to wear their SPAR T-shirts, included within your race pack.

Race timing will be available in all races and race numbers MUST be worn on the front. Timing services of Time Me will be used and they will be monitored by the Gaborone Runners Club on race day.

Cloak Room facilities will be available at the finish venue. Organisers will take reasonable care but no responsibility will be accepted for damages or loss of personal items.

Water will be available along the route every 2.5 kms and at the finish. Please feel free to bring your own water bottle to help us reduce plastic.

Toilets will be available at the start and finish venue. Marshalls and traffic officials must be obeyed at all times. Failure to comply with instructions may lead to immediate disqualification.

Refreshments and sporting products will be on sale at the finish area.

Entertainment and free work out sessions will be available at the finish area.

Pets and bicycles are NOT permitted.

The use of music players on route or at finish line are not permitted, have respect for other runners/walkers.

After the Race & Prizes

Goodie bags and medals are collected upon completion of the race, on race day Saturday 09th July 2022. Your race number bib needs to be seen! Prize giving starts at 09:30.

Only entrants with race number bibs present when the Bib Bin / lucky draw takes place will be eligible to win prizes.

In addition to overall (Open) prizes, participants will only be eligible for an age category prize in the age category they enter, corresponding to their chronological age as of 31st December 2022.
